Trio crowned Roe Park champs

Golfer of the Year competition at Roe Park got under way in the Club Stableford last Thursday in somewhat milder conditions of late.

Wallace Martin had a fine round winning with 40 points. Andy Young kept his fine run of form going taking second place with 39 points and claiming third with 38 was John O’Kane.

Limavady Travel sponsored another Club Stableford on Saturday which saw three members all scoring 40 points with Ricky Cochrane taking the spoils thanks to a superior back 9.

Liam Berryman played well to take second place as did Mervyn Brown who finished third. Michael Logue won the gross prize.

It was the final week of The Spring League sponsored by Donnelly & Taggart and members were out in force in all club competitions eager to get one good round in for their teams which could make all the difference.

John Holmes, Darren McVeigh and Stephen Lunn weren’t to be denied though as all three put in solid scores to emerge victorious.

Sean McKeever, Neville Martin and Kieran Doherty, who led from the start, will have thought they had done enough but it wasn’t to be as they finished a very close second. Finishing third were Richard Hartin, Trevor Thompson and Jonathon Forsythe with Stephen Boyd, Jamie Vinnicombe and Mervyn Brown in fourth spot.
