There were club stableford competitions on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday as well as a Mixed Greensomes Valentines’ Day event also held on Saturday.

The club competitions were all played over fifteen holes, with the green keepers working hard to get the newly upgraded and redesigned final three holes ready for the new season.

Thursday’s Stableford saw Danny Quinn secure his first victory. Being a new member this year he couldn’t have asked for a better start as he introduced himself to the club in style. He scored an excellent 35 points to secure victory from Gerard Mullan in second with the same score, only just beaten on count back.

Saturday was undoubtedly the busiest day so far this year with both male and female members turning out to play in the Mixed Greensomes Valentines’ Day competition sponsored by Mark Carton Flowers. Ann O’Kane and Eamon Butcher took the victory from Karen Brown and Mervyn Brown in second place. It was a close affair for sure with both teams scoring 33 points and having to be decided using the count back rule.

Treena Boyd and Derek Powell finished third with a fine score of 32 points mostly thanks to Treena’s sublime putting. There was of course the obligatory club stableford for the rest of the male members without a golfing date.

This was won by Stephen Mullan who scored a fantastic 38 points. Malcolm Stuart also played superbly to record 37 points to secure second place.

Sunday’s club stableford saw fewer members out as there were surely a few sore heads from partying at the annual Valentines Day Ball for members held at the resort. There was only one winner, Darren McVeigh who played well scoring 32 points.

Up next are the usual club stableford competitions held as always on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
