Walsh romps to victory at Gracehill

Harry Walsh had four points to spare over second place Martin Huey as he romped to victory in the Tombe Trophy at a sunny, windswept Gracehill on Saturday.

Harry ended up with 42 points after a remarkable back nine which saw him add 26 points to a rather average opening nine.

Harry’s round was good enough to see his handicap cut from 24 to 21 and even Martin’s fine back nine of 23 points wasn’t good enough to see off Harry.

Neil Bennett was third with 37 while Randal McDonnell was 4th also with 37.

Darren Lamont won the gross prize with 36 and saw his handicap reduced to 4 .

There were four twos from Mervyn McKeeman, Ian PL Morrison, Morris Peden, at hole 11 and Darren Lamont at 16.

On a serious note it is with great sadness that I have to announce of the death of one of our longest serving members Mr Gilbert Rankin who passed away on Sunday morning.
