Warwick secures McQuillan memorial success at Raceview
Playing off a handicap of 23, Jim scored four pars plus four single bogeys and a double bogey on the fifth which converted into 23 stableford points from the front nine.
The back nine commenced with a par, followed by a triple bogey, but two shots on handicap still gave him a point.

Hide AdThe other eight holes resulted in four bogeys, pars on the 12th and 16th plus a double bogey on the penultimate hole for a further 21 points.
Second nett was six handicapper Nigel Getty with 42 points.
Having dropped a shot on the opening hole, Nigel retrieved that with a birdie on the second and he then had six pars plus another dropped shot on the par four fifth and the nine holes yielded 20 points, to which he added a further 20 points after playing the second nine in level par gross.
David Mulholland (10) picked up the third nett prize having had the best back nine from John Bartley and Billy Greer, thanks to an impressive haul of 22 points on the homeward stretch, after all three had amassed 41 points.
Bartley recovered from a slow start to score 22 points on the second nine, whereas the majority of Greer’s total came on the first nine, while he suffered a triple bogey, bogey finish on the final two holes.

Hide AdThe final nett prize went to five handicapper Paddy Kearney who also ran into trouble in the closing stages as he shed a shot on the 17th and had a non-score on the last hole in an otherwise excellent round which included three twos.
Michael McGarry had the best gross round wit ha two under, which included a run of four straight birdies between the 13th and 16th.
CANCER RESEARCH OPEN
The Sunday charity event was won by Carl O’Neill (17) with a total of 42 stableford points.
A first nine score of six over par gross was worth 20 points and it got even better on the second nine, where a total of 22 points was helped by a four-point haul from a birdie at the 16th.

Hide AdSecond was Craig McCartney (7) whose superb opening nine of three under par earned him 24 points but he was only able to add 18 to that total.
William Tuff (11) won the third nett prize while Paul Stevenson (7) had the best gross score with a round of 71 shots.
The Whitsun holiday open was won by 12-handicapper Adam Heron with 36 points. Runner-up was Geoffrey Adams (17) who had 35 points.
WEDNESDAY OPENS
The event on May 22 resulted in a clear win for 10-handicapper Adam Barr who returned 40 points, five clear of David Smith (6) in second position.

Hide AdThe event on March 29 was won by Martin Young (18) with 38 points, aided by a birdie at the final hole which helped push Adam Heron (12) into second place with 37 points.
David Smith (6) collected the best gross prize having played the course in six over.
INTER-CLUB NEWS
The Holt Shield team had a 4-1 win in their home game against Ormeau, while the Ulster Fourball team progressed to the next round by beating Bushfoot 3.5-1.5.
The Ulster Cup team exited the competition when they lost to Fortwilliam but there was better news for the Mixed Foursomes team who finished second in the qualifying at Cushendall and they now play Cushendall at Ballycastle in the matchplay stage.
