The winner of the 13-hole sweep was Barry Monney who, playing off an adjusted handicap of seven, returned a score of 32 stableford points.

Even with that, Barry had to rely on a better last hole total to edge David Chambers into second place.

Having dropped a shot at the opening hole, Barry parred the second and retrieved that dropped shot with a birde on the third.

That was followed by a trio of pars and a trio of bogeys which gave him a total of 20 points for the nine holes.

Commencing the last four holes with a birdie, he then completed his round with a further three pars which added a further 12 points to his tally.

Runner-up was David CHambers (12), also with 32 points, but he couldn’t match Mooney’s form over those last four holes.

David opened with a birdie at the first, followed by two dropped shots, but worse was to follow as he ‘dinged’ the fourth.

That was followed by four pars plus another birdie on the par five ninth for 23 points for the nine holes.

His final four holes yielded three bogeys plus a par on the final hole for nine more points.

Category one was won by Kevin McGarry who, off six, posted 29 points, which included a non-score on the par four fifth.

Category two went to Eddie Gilmore, with the nine-handicapper scoring 28 points, which included birdies at the ninth and tenth.

Mervyn Wallace (12) took top spot in category three with 31 points - that despite ‘dings’ on the sixth and 12th holes but against that, he birdied the 10th and 13th.

Category four saw Eugene M Reid (14) top score with a total of 30 points after using his handicap allowance wisely.

The best gross prize saw the return of Dermot McElroy (+3) to the winner’s podium with a score of six under par over the 13-hole course.
