Wendy’s on her ‘todd’ at the top of the leaderboard at Banbridge GC

Last Tuesday, Wendy Todd came out on top as the ladies at Banbridge Golf Club played for the Kathleen Orr Salver and also for the beautiful prizes sponsored by Lorna Poots, Renee Norris and Helen Rankin.

It certainly didn’t pay to be out in the early draw as the rain hampered play yet again but thankfully the sun shone for the afternoon players and some good scores were posted. The competition scratch score was 69.

Wendy Todd grabbed the overall victory with a nett score of 66, beating Helen Smyth on count-back.

Helen came out on top in Section A while Karen Heslip took the Section B prize with a nett 67. Rita Downey was the winner in Section C with a nett 76.

The nine hole competition was also decided on count-back with, Ada Lavery narrowly taking the prize from Kathleen Smyth after both players carded 15 points.

There was only one two as Jane Doyle lifted the entire pot with her score on the 15th.

The ladies’ annual outing took place on Friday as they travelled to Carryduff to play at Rockmount.

Unfortunately, the weather didn’t let up (three times in a row getting soaked at golf is no fun) but the lack of sunshine was made up for in the great food, companionship and craic the girls enjoyed.

Vivienne Faulkner took the top prize with 34 points while Jacinta Rooney was second on 32. Denise McBrien scored the best gross.
