Winners no stranger to top spot

The competition at Silverwood Golf Club on Saturday was the a fourball betterball, a two man team event, and the winners were no strangers to winning a team competition as in first place with 39 points were Kieran Murray and Sean McStay.

They went round the front nine in level par which was equal to 20 points with one birdie at the 7th hole, one bogey at the second and seven pars. On their back seven holes they went round in three under par for 19 points, with one birdie at the 14th, five pars and an excellent eagle three at the 18th to give them victory on a better back nine.

Just pipped into second place again with 39 points were Michael Millar and Sean Polin. They had 22 points on the front nine, going round in one over par with one birdie at the 8th hole, two bogeys at the first and 6th hole and six pars. On the back seven they had six pars and one double bogey for 17 points and their total of 39 points.

In third place were John Clarke and Jim Haddock again with 39 points. They had 22 points on their front nine with six pars and three bogeys while on the back seven holes they had 17 points with one birdie at the 18th,four pars and two bogeys.

The gross prize was picked up by Gavin McCabrey and Martin Greene with 30 gross points, they went around the front nine in one over par, with one bogey at the 6th and eight pars. Their back seven holes contained one birdie at the 14th, two bogeys at the 12th and 15th and four pars.

There were only three two’s on the day with Martin Greene, Sean McStay and Francis Kelly all benefiting on the day.

In the individual sweep first place went to Derek Church with 40 points. He had 23 points on his front nine and 17 points on the back seven holes.

In second place with 36 points was Daniel Mulholland, he had 20 points on his front nine and 16 points on the back seven holes.
