Winter Eclectic and Sweep at Galgorm Golf club

David Martin (11) and David Keys (10) had a four point advantage over Dunlop at the turn. Trailing Keys by two points with three to play Dunlop who had already taken a birdie and five pars on the inward nine also parred sixteen and then upped his game to finish with two birdies.

Keys who had been two points in the lead faded when he hit bogey trouble to come limping home with a double bogey and two bogeys.

Martin who found himself three points behind Keys with three to play after ‘dings’ on eleven and fifteen finished with two pard and a birdie to overtake Keys and take second place a point behind Dunlop.

At halfway in Division 2 James McKendry (13) was one point ahead of Brian Henry (13) and Derrick McClelland (15). Gareth Logan was a

further two points behind. Through thirteen Henry had taken a two point lead over McKendry due mainly to a birdie on thirteen by Henry to

a double bogey by McKendry. McClelland and Logan were at one point intervals respectively behind McKendry. With two to play McKendry, Logan and McClelland were level, one point ahead of Henry who ‘dinged’ fifteen. Henry parred seventeen to join McKendry, Logan and McClelland who all took bogeys. An exciting finish was in prospect.Henry and McKendry birdied eighteen to finish one point clear of Logan (par) and McClelland (bogey) and with a better back nine Henry took first place.Results – Division 1 – 1st. PENNEY TAKES ECLECTIC

Steven Penney who was lying in close attendance over the closing weeks of the Eclectic swooped on the final round to take first place by a clear 1.8 points from Simon Kennedy with James McKendry in third place another 0.4 points behind.
