Meanwhile North-West Golf Club’s leading officials do not appear to have been over-burdened with their duties of high office as Captain, Bosco Reid and Lady Captain, Muireanna Friel, emerged victorious in last weekend’s Sunday Society outing.

Playing of a 13 handicap, Bosco really made light of the blustery conditions when enjoying a superb four points cushion over his nearest rival.

A three over gross score over the front nine yielded 23 points, and on the way home nine a five over gross score - which included a particularly ugly triple bogey ‘7’ at the difficult par four 12th hole - saw the Captain add another 19 points for a winning total of 42 points.

The runner-up, with 38 points, was the Lisfannon club’s 2014 “Golfer of the Year,” Stewart McGinley (4).

A sizzling round of two over gross, which included birdies at the closing 16th, 17th and 18th holes was a score that would have won on any other day.

In the Ladies Section, Lady Captain Muireanna Friel romped home in first place to make it an unique ‘double’ for the two officials.

Meanwhile, week seven of the Sunday Society also on offer to members this weekend.
