Portglenone Community Centre look strong contenders to bounce back after relegation as they posted their second successive win, this time against new boys Antrim IBC. Gerry McLarnon, Joe McErlean and Eamon Cassley skipped the winning rinks for the Bannsiders, while Darren McCullough’s foursome contributed the visitors’ only point.

The other team to drop from the top flight last year - BPFA ‘B’ - kick-started their campaign with a five-point haul at newly-promoted Services ‘B’. Herbie McCullough and David Kernohan’s rinks shaded low-scoring first half games but Broughshane cut loose after the interval, with convincing wins for Noel Graham and Joe Campbell.

Harryville Community Centre claimed their first win of the campaign with an impressive 19-shot success over Moneyglass. Norman Worthington, N Laverty and Joe Patterson all led their rinks to wins, while Henry Marron’s 10-10 tie with Stewart Wilson prevented the Wakehurst side from claiming a ‘full house’.

In the other game, rinks anchored by Campbell Wade, Ivan Mcmaster and John Nichols guided Golf Seniors to a win against Services ‘A’, whose lone response came from B Stewart.
