Having taken just two points from their opening two games, the Raceview side exploded into life with a maximum 10 points from two games in the past week.

The golfers followed up an impressive win at Portglenone Community Centre by claiming full points from a rearranged game against BPFA ‘B’

No details for either game were available at the time of going to press, but those results have lifted Golf Club into fourth place in the table.

With leaders BPFA ‘A’ on a ‘bye’ week, champions Michelin missed the opportunity to assume the leadership of the division ahead of this week’s meeting of the ‘Big Two’.

Broughshane’s ‘B’ team-club mates did them a favour by taking a point off Michelin - thanks to Noel Graham’s rink - which was enough to keep the Woodside Road side off top spot, despite wins from the Michelin rinks skipped by Wesley Caldwell, Matthew Boyd and Graham Wilson.

In the other first division game, Old Bleach moved into third spot by taking all five points from their visit to an under-strength JTI.

Five shots in the last two ends gave P McKeown’s rink victory over John Marks, while the other Bleach rinks - skipped by Bryan Magrath, Jonathan Millar and Mervyn McDonald - coasted to victory.

DIVISION TWO

BIBC moved six points clear at the top of Division Two, by beating nearest challengers Clough Rangers.

Roy Torrington, Tommy Hill and Nigel Robinson skipped the winning rinks for ‘BI’ while Raymond Aitcheson’s rink prevented a clean sweep by beating Danny McCullough.

Services ‘A’ remain well placed behind the leading sides after a home win over Moneyglass.

Securing shots in the closing ends proved decisive for all three winning Services rinks, skipped by Bill Kitson, Pauline Wilson and Mark Shaw. Henry Graham’s rink provided the only crumb of comfort for Moneyglass.

Harryville Community claimed three-and-a-half points from their home game against All Saints in a game which was probably closer than the 12-shot winning margin suggests.

There were only two shots between the sides at the break, thanks to wins apiece for Harold Smyth for the home side and Eugene McReynolds for Saints.

An 8-8 stalemate between Willard Reid and Tony Dillon did nothing to alter that scenario but Joe Patterson’s 10-shot win over Anthony Mitchell proved the major difference between the sides in the end.

The other game in Division Two saw the occasionally-seen scenario of Golf Seniors beating Glenravel by one shot, but only claiming the minority of the points.

That was because the Martinstown side won on three rinks - skipped by Martin O’Neill, John McKeegan and Martin McKeegan - but Donald Smyth’s 12-shot win for the golfers was enough not only to win his own point but also the point for overall shots total.

DIVISION THREE

First Ballymena continued their good early-season form by claiming four points at Round Tower. David McQuitty, Lyle McQuitty and Matt McPeake’s rinks won for ‘First’, while Round Tower’s only point came from Michael Teer’s foursome.

Services ‘B’ scored four points from their home clash with Maine. Eric Smyth, Gretta Coulter and Sheila Smith’s rinks triumphed for Services, while Patsy O’Neill ensured Maine did not return to Randalstown empty-handed.

In the other game, West Church shaded the verdict over Eaton Park by a single shot. Gary Shaw and George Reid won for Eaton Park, while West Church’s wins came from Jim Rainey and Tommy Wilson.
