The top return of 34 points came for the 13-hole course came from Bertie McIlvenna and Gary Rodgers, with the former having a better last four hole total of 12 points against 10 from Rodgers.

McIlvenna (18) didn’t look to be on course for a winning score after three double bogeys in his opening four holes but he clicked into gear in the remainder of his round with six pars and four single bogeys, and, crucially, he scored three points at each of the last four holes.

His last four holes produced 12 points to push Thomas Surgenor (9) into fourth place.

Next up was Raymond Scullion (10) with the best 31-point total with a better last four hole total than Lawrence Kerr (12). Scullion’s card included a non-score on the fifth but birdies at eight and nine produced eight points.

Chris McCrory (6) returned the only 30-point total, while Michael Scorggie (6) had the best of three 29 point returns.

Birdies at the 10th and 13th ensured he edged out Paddy Kearney over the last four holes, while five-handicapper Paddy in turn pipped Robert McMullan over the same homeward stretch, meaning the 15-handicapper had to settle for the final prize on offer.
