Good display

A LARGE Tigers U10 squad travelled the short distance to Banbridge RFC last Saturday for their first competitive games of the new season playing both Banbridge and Armagh RFC in a mini Blitz.

Several new faces and dry conditions set up a well anticipated morning's rugby for the Lurgan boys and their loyal band of supporters.

Lurgan played `mixed teams` and ground out a creditable draw against an Armagh `A` team in the first match. In the following games both teams beat Banbridge comfortably. Lurgan finished the day playing A and B games against Armagh with the A team recording a fine victory and the B team narrowly losing.

Notable performances needing mention came from Luke Forsyth who was a superb physical force in all the games and drove many hard yards setting up key scores especially for the silky pace of Conor Rankin who once again has started the season in blistering form running in five trys on the opening day.

Ryan Holmes proved also that he will be key in attack for the Tigers this year with his deceptive pace and guile resulting in a hat-trick of trys.

Daniel Kilpatrick and Ryan Armstrong were again always in the mix with typical hard tackling and ball winning to keep Lurgan on the front foot, with Daniel also grabbing an early try.

Josh Richardson and Philip Hayes emerged with notable performances. James O`Connor had his first game for the Tigers and got on the scoresheet with a well taken try.
