Wallace will be hoping to prevent Methody from reaching the final, with the Belfast side aiming to win their fourth title in a row.

RBAI will lie in wait for the winners of the tie in the big St Patrick’s Day finale, following a 10-6 victory over Coleraine Inst on Tuesday.

However, hopes are high at the local school that this will be their year, with the team playing with confidence, securing their place in the semi final with an 11-3 win over Ballyclare High.

Elsewhere, the Wallace Medallion side reached the Shield final with a superb performance against Campbell College.

Speaking ahead of Thursday’s match in Belfast, Principal Deborah O’Hare said: “Everyone in school is very proud that the 1st XV team will play Methody in the Schools’ Cup semi-final at the Kingspan Stadium.

“From focused players to excited supporters who will proudly have their faces painted, from nervous coaches and managers to proud, emotional parents, this is always a special occasion.

“To hear the roar of applause from our supporters as the team run on to the magnificent pitch is always a memorable experience.

“This memorable experience is one we shall repeat as a school again on Monday as the Medallion side play the final,” Mrs O’Hare added.

“This is a busy, match packed couple of weeks with all the boys’ hockey teams still competing too in their respective competitions.

“The staff and I are proud of these players who all exemplify the school’s core values of Commitment, Opportunity, Respect and Excellence in their play, their attitude and are all wonderful ambassadors for Wallace,” Mrs O’Hare commented.

“It was with great pride too that we celebrated the swimming success of three of our pupils in the recent NI Grammar School Competition, with Rachel Bethel winning Gold in 50m Butterfly and 50m Freestyle, Kyle Mawhinney winning Bronze in 100m Individual Medley and Leah Bethel winning Gold in 50m Backstroke and Bronze in 50m Freestyle.”
