Good Morning Ballycastle/Moyle to stage charity golf event

Good Morning Ballycastle/Moyle is holding a charity golf day on Sunday 26th August at Ballycastle Golf Club.

The Good Morning Ballycastle/Moyle service is under severe threat at present due to lack of funding and this will be a very valuable opportunity to raise much needed monies.

This is one of six charity days that the Golf Club offer. The event is open to ladies and gents.

Good morning Ballycastle provides a much needed ‘friend on the phone’ service for vulnerable, lonely and elderly people living in the local council area and beyond including Rathlin Island.

The service offers a free daily morning telephone call from Monday to Friday to check on the person’s well being, and to offer friendly help and advice, with referral to other services if necessary.

At present trained volunteers deliver this very confidential service to many people in this area. Trusting relationships have been built between the volunteers and the people called. People now talk more openly about matters that are important to them. These can be very private or simple and practical.

Much appreciation has been shown by families as they have peace of mind knowing that volunteers contact their loved ones regularly.
