Good result for Donnelly in Aghagallon Cup

CLANN Eireann cyclist Jerome Donnelly scored the best result of his career in last Sunday’s Aghagallon Cup race with a second place finish.

Donnelly and team-mate Kenny McConaghy, who finished seventh, were well to the fore for most of the ten lap race.

There were no significant breakaways, but the fast pace dislodged half the field from the main bunch and the survivors were set up for a sprint finish.

Declan Mulhoulland came first in the under 16 event.

James Mulhoulland took fourth place in the under 12 race and Lucy Gethins was awarded best new girl.

Clann Eireann cyclists also took part in the 100 kilometre Tour of Ards and the Harry Reynolds Memorial in Balbriggan.

John Heverin rode aggressively at the Ards race but was merely recorded as finishing in the main group of finishers.

Conor Grimes led the Harry Reynolds race for a couple of laps, but was caught by a large bunch in the closing miles.

John Bann-Lavery travels to Kerry for Ras Mumhain as the sole Clann Eireann rider.

Also the long awaited Inter-club League takes to the road on Tuesday, April 10.
