Good results all round for youths

U11 Ballymoney 11 5 – 0 Ulidia U 11

Despite a 5-0 win this was a very scrappy performance by Ballymoney against the team at the bottom of the league.

The first half was evenly contested and Ulidia had a number of chances to take the lead which were squandered.

After 25 minutes Chrissy Moore opened the scoring for Ballymoney from close range to leave the score 1-0 at half time.

There was a slight improvement in the second half and Andrew Dunlop made it 2-0 after 35 minutes. Ulida were still making it difficult for Ballymoney but Conleth O’Neill extended Ballymoney’s lead to 3-0 on 40 minutes with a well placed shot.

Ulida added to their woes scoring an own goal following a scramble in their goalmouth. Ballymoney’s man of the match Adam Jamison completed the scoring with a low shot to leave the final score 5-0.

Although the second half was better than the first, a big improvement will be needed for next week’s N.I. Boys Cup 3rd round match against Maiden City.

U12 Ballymoney 1 vs 1 Maiden City

Ballymoney went in to this game expecting at least a point.

They started off well with Sam Mc Cooke and Adam Alexander putting great balls in to the box though Neill Shaw and George Connolly just missed the target. Conor Gillen whipped in a corner that was cleared out to John Joe O’Neill who couldn’t repeat his wonders against Cliftonville.

A good pass from Fergal Dillon set Sam Mc Cooke running down the line and his cross was deflected out for a corner. The corner was headed back out to Conor Gillen who passed it low in to the box again and Adam Patrick finished it off well.

1-0 Ballymoney with 15 minutes gone. Ballymoney managed to hold on to this lead until half time but needed a few slip-ups from Maiden City. Half Time 1-0 Ballymoney.

The second half produced some good attacking play from Maiden City. Then Maiden City broke away with their striker running through but a last ditch tackle from Francis Cochrane stopped the move.

The Maiden City striker again broke through. Despite Liam Coyle and Aaron MacAuley’s best efforts Maiden City scored. Final score Ballymoney 1-1 Maiden City.

U14 Ballymoney Youth 3 v 0 Solway Star

The U14 recorded an excellent 3-0 victory over Solway on Saturday.

In the first half Balllymoney dominated the game with free flowing football producing two superb goals from C McFerran and an excellent headed goal from midfielder P Wildsmith making it 3-0 to Ballymoney at halftime.

In the second half Ballymoney continued to play attractive passing football but were unable to add to the scoreline.

Ballymoney continued to dominate play and ran out comfortable winners.

U15 Larne Youths 1 v 1 Ballymoney Utd

Ballymoney travelled to Larne on Saturday and came away with a hard fought draw.

Ballymoney started brightly and showed alot of effort from everyone.

With 15 minutes gone with both teams creating chances the ball went deep into the Ballymoney half which caused confusion in the Toon defence and all three defenders hesitated and the Larne forward nipped in to lob the Ballymoney keeper.

At this stage Ballymoney lifted their game and produced some neat football and by half time they felt they could get something from this encounter.

In the second half Ballymoney showed alot of character and when Mathew Caulfield was brought down in the box and Liam Mckenna stepped forward and smashed the penalty home. Ballymoney dominated the rest of the match but Larne defended well and the encounter ended in a draw.

U16 Ballymoney 5 v 0 NFC Kesh

This game was dominated by Ballymoney from start to finish with every player doing their part and playing exceptionally well. After a string of missed opportunities the home side eventually opened the scoring with a super strike from Crouch outside the box 1-0. Moore who came close a couple of times doubled the lead when he was played in on the left of the penalty box and slotted across the keeper 2-0.

Second half Ballymoney continued to take the game to their opponents and McLaughlin scored a great third 3-0. King who’s been promising a goal all season finally hit the net when he lashed the ball past the keeper from close range 4-0. Milligan completed the score with an unstoppable shot from ten yards 5-0. Carey had a super game. This was a great all round performance well done to everyone and good luck in the next round of the NIBFA Cup.
