Good turnout at Islandderry

LOVELY weather, a good turnout and lots of fish being caught added to the Robert Watson Memorial Competition at Islandderry Fishery, Dromore recently.

Lisburn angler Andy Simpson took first place and the Shield with a winning bag of 3 fish for 13lb15 while boat partner Pete Cole, Lisburn took second place with 3 fish for 12lb6. Bill Johnston, Lurgan went home with 3 fish for 12lb4 giving him 3rd place. A lot of good quality fish were caught and released with 24 fish recorded at 4lb+ the average weight. Gavin Rogan, Drumaness, had a bit of bad luck hooking into 3 fish in a row which totaled 21lb and would have won him the competition but unfortunately he couldn’t count these as he had already bagged up. His best was a lovely fish of 6lb2. The fishery would like to thank everyone for their continued support with the competitions and a big thank you to Grace Watson & Heather & Fiona McFadden for the food. Thanks also to Gerry Teggart, Rab Clements and all who donated goodies for the raffle. The next competition is the start of the winter league on October 27 with a first prize of £400 cash. Entries are now being taken. For more information or to enter contact the fishery on 07859 074424 or www.islandderryfisheryandtackle.co.uk or visit the Islandderry Fishery facebook page.
