Good turnout of Springwell Athletes with great performances

This weekend saw a lot more activity on the running scene with a good turnout of Springwell athletes and some wonderful individual performances.

Some of the highlights were, Philip Tweedies’ superb 2nd place overall in the Masters race at the Malcolm Cup XC races, Fran McFadden’s fantastic back to back wins in the ladies races on Saturday and Sundays’ 10k and 5k races, promising newcomer Steven McAlarys fine 1st place in the Benone 10k.

Niamh Carrs continued her terrific xc performances, winning the U17 Girls race at the Malcom Cup in a very impressive time of 13:14 for the 2 mile course.

Other notable performance included the impressive Hermione Skuce finishing 2nd in the U15 Girls race, recording a great time of 13:54, again over 2 miles, Keziah McCracken and Emma Alcorn finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively in the U11 Girls race and Aaron Craig who finished a strong 15th in the U17 Boys race.

At Portrush Parkrun first finisher was Springwells Bryan Edgar in 21.02, who led home a Springwell 1-2-3 with Glenn Millar and Jimmy Stewart in close attendance. First lady was Springwells’ Sarah Chestnutt in 25.51
