Good week for Causeway

On Friday Causeway 1st’s took on of the premier league favourites, Graduates at Lisburn Racquets Club. Despite an excellent win last week, Causeway once again started the match as underdogs.

Causeway made an excellent start, and played a fantastic first quarter.

As a result the first fifteen ended with them just 3 goals down, with a score of 7:10. Belief in the team was strong, and they started the 2nd quarter as they had finished the first. Sadly though Graduates came out very strong and soon started to open up a bigger gap. Causeway, however kept their heads up and fought back once again.

The final 2 quarters continued in this pattern, the quality in Graduates, who can boast several international players shone through in the end, but Causeway never gave up. Their determination to fight for every ball, right to the 60th minute paid off, when they eventually lost just 59:28. The fact that they finished within half of Graduates’ score meant they got a well deserved bonus point and gave them a real confidence boost ahead of next week’s match against Belfast Ladies. 1st team players - Joanne Lennox, Oonagh Mullan, Anna Boyle, Karla Cooke, Brenda Boyle, Lindsey Patrick, Mary McCollum
