Gr-eight win for Town U12s

Banbridge Town U12s

(Lisburn League) 8

Loughside 2

Banbridge Town U12s' Lisburn League team made it five wins out of their last six games now in all competitions after they demolished Loughside on a cold and wet Saturday morning on Belfast's Shore Road.

The Juniors got off to a flier after three minutes when a long free kick from McCandless caught out the Loughside back four, Duffin slipped in behind them and slotted home the first.

The second followed minutes later after a good passage of play involving Dillon and McKinstry resulted in a dangerous cross from McAtamney on the left wing which found Fearon at the back post to stab the ball home.

McAtamney then opened his own account and scored his sides third with a great run and rasping left foot shot to the roof of the net.

With half time approaching and Banbridge dominating all over the pitch the game was finished as a contest when Morgan slipped past two defenders on the edge of the box and squared his pass for Angus to finish the move.

The Juniors made some changes for the second half and new signing Ben Davis quickly showed his potential. Following a strong run down the right he found Fearon with a deep cross, his goal bound header was well saved but Duffin was alive to pounce on the loose ball for the fifth goal of the game.

Davis then scored on his debut following good link pay with Barr. He cut in from the wing and gave the keeper no chance with his powerful finish.

Loughside scored two late consolation goals with ten minutes remaining but it was too little too late and Lennon got his sides seventh with a well placed shot from inside the box.

With only seconds remaining, McKinstry capped a magnificent midfield display by scrambling home the eighth goal of the game after constant Banbridge pressure.

Sixteen goals now in two games and another three points sees the Juniors move into the top six of the league table following a slow start to the new season. Next week sees them entertain bottom of the table Lower Maze in Dromore.
