Graham fired up for World Championships

BALLYMONEY bodybuilder Stephen Graham has set his sights on the World Championships after expressing his disappointment following last week's British Championships.

He told Times Sport: "Unfortunately the UKBFF British Championships didnt go as planned and due to mistakes in my final preparations my condition was off and it dropped me too many points to fight for the title and i ended up placing 7th.

"On the Friday night before the semi-final I looked heavier and fuller than I have ever looked and still carried my trademark shredded condition.

"I was being prepared for these championships by an IFBB Professional bodybuilder who changed the last of my foods from carbs to fats in the last hours in the run in to the show and had me sweating off bodyweight during the night before the show.

"Unfortunately my body didnt react favourably to these changes and it blurred my condition and left my muscles looking flat.

"At the semi-final I still made top 10, to progress onto the finals on Sunday.

"On the Sunday I did improve slightly but the damage had been done. Maybe I'm biased but i still think I deserved a few places higher than where i did finish, and many top bodybuilders and press reporters also thought it, but alas they aren't judging and although I didn't agree with the judges, you have to take the decision that the judges make even though it may be hard.

"The positive side to it all, is that even when I'm not at top condition, I'm still capable of placing 7th in a British championship, which isn't bad!

"This has given me a huge kick up the backside and I certainly won't make the same mistakes again and I'm more fired up than ever to set the records straight at the World Championships in eight weeks in Turkey."
