Great performance is matched by great final score

The first half was very cagey with Dromore playing into a stiff breeze. It was not until the 20th minute that Dromore had a chance. It came from a well taken corner by Joel, the goalkeeper spilled the ball, Matthew Briggs was able to get the ball back to Morgan who stabbed it home.

Euan was playing up front, closing the goal kicks down. The last chance of the half came from a sharp shot from Philip, but the goalkeeper saved well pushing the ball away, from it creeping in at his left post.

The second half started with Euan giving way to Jack. With the wind now behind, coach John told Philip to have a go from kick off, so Matthew Briggs tapped the ball to Philip, who unleashed a great shot, which the keeper could not hold and Dromore went two up.

Dromore were beginning to pass the ball well and soon the ball broke to Jack on the line, but he was facing the halfway line, so the only way he could score was a cheeky back heel.

The locals switched off after Jack’s goal and allowed Cookstown to go right through them and scored leaving Josh no chance. This, however, was the last action for Josh, who did not see the ball for the rest of the half, as Dromore dominated the rest of the game.

The next goal came from another corner by Joel, it passed all the players but Jack was able to chest the ball down, on the back post and scored with a clinical finish.

Soon after that Adam who had been given a lot of room down the left had a great run, passing two players and passed to Matthew Briggs in the box, who produced a great goal. Adam was really causing problems and had a great header saved to the keepers left.

Dave had mentioned to the players that the keeper was dropping long range shots and to follow in. Well this produced more goals, with Matthew Magill scoring high into the right of the goal, when the keeper could not hold Philip’s shot. This was repeated with the seventh and eighth goal. Nathan had two shots, the first was converted by Matthew Briggs and the second by Matthew Magill.

This was a great team performance that was matched by a great result.
