Great win for Under 11s over Malone

THE Tigers U11s were to play both Malone and Monaghan, however Monaghan were unable to put an U11 team out due to numbers. So it was left to play Malone three matches to enable everyone in the squad to get a game.

In the first match Malone took the lead at half-time 4-0 due to some poor tackling from the Tigers that allowed Malone to run at will for the line.

In the second half the Tigers changed their entire team and Malone found a completely different match with the Tigers tackling hard with Max Lyttle tackling anything that moved.

The forwards won at the rucking, driving Malone from the ball and setting up the backs on some great runs. With Jack Carson able to attack from the scrum half position with the new rules it opened more gaps in the Malone defence. The Tigers came away with a 5-4 win with tries from Rory Burns, Ben Davidson (2), Max Lyttleand Jack Carson.

The Tigers continued with the same plan into the second match coming away with a 3-0 with tries from Reece Millar, Jack Carson and Ben Davidson.

The third match was a hard fought match with some great play from some of the new comers to the team with Tiernan Kelly scoring both the tries in the 2-2 draw. It was a great display by the U11s and all the boys played their part in the match and should be proud of the result. Big thanks must go to the referee Michael Cregan who allowed the game to flow and be played in a tough but fair manner.
