Greenhills coming on strongly in chase for local darts league title

The Cargan side closed to within two points of perennial champions Drifters after a 7-1 win at Spinning Mill, while the multiple champions dropped three points on their visit to The Coach.

The Division Two title looks to be going to Ballee, but the race for the second promotion place is wide open with 11 points separating 4 teams.

David Martin and Colin McCaughern had the best individual performances this week, with both hitting 13-dart legs, followed by: 15s Geoff Matthews, 16s Brian Cathcart, 17s Ryan Esler, Arthur Kenny, 18s Andy Martin, John Elder, Colin McCaughern, 19s Andy Martin, Adrian Rouke x2, Ryan Esler, Ashley Rainey, Andy McCaughern.

Donna Service (Ballee II) had the week’s best finish with a 125 checkout, followed by: 113 Paddy Coyles (Greenhills), 112 Lee Balmer (Spinning Mill), 108 John Elder, 106 Leon McDowell (Ballee I), 101 Andy Martin (Drifters)

Geoff Matthews (Drifters), Ally Agnew (Greenhills), Danny Balmer (Spinning Mill), Willy Bones (Floaters) and Sammy Greer (Fountain Bar) all hit 180s.


The Coach 3, Drifters 5: Drifters claimed their 8th straight league win to continue their 100% record. The Coach had wins from Adrian Rouke (2-0), Ashley Rainey (2-0) and Lex Gilmore (2-1). Drifters had wins from Andy Martin (2-0), John Elder (2-0), Brian Cathcart (2-0), Ryan Esler (2-0) and Geoff Matthews (2-1). Star player - Geoff Matthews.

Thatch Inn 5, Fountain Arrows 3: A tight match where Thatch Inn had to dig deep from 3-2 behind to claim the win. Well done Graham Mills (2-1), James Kennedy (2-1) and Robert Beggs (2-0) with wins for Fountain. Thatch Inn had wins from Paul Rock (2-0), Ian Millar (2-1), Willie McBurney (2-1), Noel Elliot (2-0) and Roy Gilchrist (2-0). Star player - Robert Beggs.

Spinning Mill 1, Greenhills 7: Greenhills claimed a strong victory to close the gap to Drifters down to 2 points.
