Gurney loses to Baxter
Waterside man Daryl Gurney fought back from 3-0 down to claim a 4-3 preliminary-round victory against Scott Mackenzie, but his PDC World Darts Championship campaign was ended by Ronnie Baxter in the first round, on Saturday.
Gurney, who showed tremendous never say die attitude to see of Mackenzie and had the highest ever average in the history PDC World Chamionships at Alexandra Palace in the preliminary-round, pushed his opponent throughout but Baxter demonstrated his class when it mattered and sealed victory with a superb 12-darter including a 180 and a 104 finish.
