Gurneydefeats world champions

Waterside darts player Daryl Gurney continued his recent great form, in Wigan at the weekend.

Gurney, who recorded the fastest game of darts recently in Thursday Night Darts League with a 12 dart game, produced some super darts to see of former world champion John Part and currently PDC World Champion Michael van Gerwen.

Van Gerwen who defeated legend Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor 7-0 in the Premier League Darts last Thursday evening then lost 6-5 to Gurney at the UK Open qualifiers on the PDC Pro tour on Saturday.

The Iona House thrower also defeated former PDO champion John Part 6-3, in the same competition.

Over 220 PDC Tour Card Holders and PDPA Associate Members competed in the three days of UK Open Qualifiers in Wigan as they tried to win their places in the Televised Finals at the Butlins Minehead Resort in March.

A huge second qualifier for Daryl, winning five games to make £1,500, which should see him at the Minehead finals in March, which will live on ITV4.

Gurney also announced recently that he has new sponsors on board to help support him in his second season in the elite PDC pro tour.

He ended 2013 with many good results, his form improving as he got used to playing darts at the very highest level.

The 27-year-old and his management team are very pleased to have Caralot join them.
