Guy takes top spot at Larne parkrun

Seventeen East Coast AC members ran the 5k Larne parkrun with Andy Guy taking first place in a time of 18:39. Daniel Girvin secured third (19:54) and Stephen Millar added a new personal best to his records when he crossed the line in 21:42 (8th).

Last weekend’s bronze medallist from the Athletics NI Half Marathon Championships – Janice Plumb - was the fastest lady of the day by almost three minutes when she covered the 5k course in 21:57 (1st place lady).

Twenty members of Larne Athletic Club took part in Saturday’s Larne parkrun with Martin Agnew (inset) returning to action with a second-place finish in a time of 18.52.

David Murphy was next home in 20.48, followed by Richard Vasey in 24.43. Lorraine Wharry was third female in 25.54, followed by Kerrianne Kearney (27.29).

Kirsten Montgomery (27.33), Lyndsey Dillon (27.50) Roger Barham (28.14) and Katie Allen (28.54) all ran personal bests, while Glyn Allen finished in 28.55 and Helen Kane in 29.29.

Jack, Rebekah and Geraldine Hastings were next finishers in 34.59, 36.14 and 36.16 respectively.

Isla and Julie Allen were next in 38.08 followed by Lisa McHendry 39.22 and Mairi McGregor 41.15. Cian Ferguson was a first-timer and ran well to finish in 44.05 with Mel Priest completing the club contingent in 55.18.

At Carrick, Laura Simpson was third female in 24.17 with Pamela Ward running a persona best time of 29.10. Bill Guiller was just behind in 29.15.

At Portrush, Emmett Woods was a first-timer and finished in 21.41 with wife Michele running a personal best of 29.08 and son David finishing first in his age group in 24.48.

At Antrim, Gabriel Rodgers was making his debut. He finished in 21.49 with daughter Ashlynn crossing the line in 27.51.
