Gymnasts impress again

SHOOTING Starz team of gymnasts excelled at the Northern Ireland women's gymnastics championships held on Sunday, in the national gymnastics centre, Lisburn.

The team of five girls aged from 8 to 14 returned to their club in Campsie with an amazing total of 23 medals, revealing how well this young club has progressed.

Two sisters, Naimh and Orlaith Watson won the overall trophy at level 4 in their respective age groups with Jennifer Smyth taking second place next to Niamh.

Gemma Mullan placed second overall in level 2, a major achievement as it qualifies her for the Northern Ireland squad and Francesca Bertolina took the silver spot in her category at level 3.

The girls continue to move up the womens gymnastics levels as they gain new skills. They are now preparing for the summer training in July which will be at two gymnastics centres of excellence in Pennsylvania and Maryland USA.
