Haddock hat trick puts side on top

Derryhirk 2nds 6

Lurgan Institute 1

DERRYHIRK 2nds entertained Lurgan Institute on Saturday in a local derby in perfect conditions at Lord Lurgan Memorial Park and continued on their winning ways. From the kick-off the Hirk were soon to put the Stute defence under pressure with Haddock firing from the edge of the box and the keeper making an excellent save. Sean Corry in the Hirk goal was having another quiet afternoon but any threat that Stute caused, the backline of O’Neill and France were more than capable of handling.

On the 15 minute mark Haddock struck and soon after McAlernon added a second with Haddock controlling a ball before unleashing an unstoppable shot to the top corner of the net to make it 3-0 at the halfway stage.

At half time the Hirk introduced Pete McStravick who jinked his way past three defenders and tapping the ball into the net to make it four.

Liam McCrory was starting to dominate the midfield, but on the break the Institute scored against the run of play to make it a contest.

McStravick was soon to get his second and the Hirks fifth from a great ball by Paddy McMahon and Ryan Haddock completed his hattrick with a great individual goal to finish the scoring and put a young Hirk team on top of the table with probably some of the best displays from a second team in many years.

On the day the whole team worked and battled well with man of the match performances from Liam McCrory, Daniel France and the hero of the day with his hattrick Ryan Haddock.
