Halaseh makes sure of the points for Parkview

PARKVIEW Ladies enhanced their Senior 3 promotion aspirations with their fourth win on the bounce.

Owls were first on to the scorecard at Roughfort, but Clare Dundee’s girls were mainly in control and ran out comfortable 4-2 winners.

Even without striker Claire Patterson and defender Lynn Stevens, the Doagh girls started briskly, but Laura Neish and Suzi Weir were unable to finish off promising right-wing attacks prompted by Angela Halaseh.

In a home attack, one of their players rounded Dundee and Laura Chalmers before opening the scoring, but 10 minutes later parity was restored when influential midfielder Halaseh managed to squeeze the ball in at the near post from the narrowest of angles.

Seconds before the break Nikki Turkington put the hosts ahead when she stabbed the ball into the net after Gail Caldwell’s initial effort had been blocked.

Parkview dominated in the second session, and Neish doubled the lead when she latched on to a Chalmers hit out of defence, and coolly beat the advancing keeper.

Cathy Morrow and Turkington were linking well down the left flank, but they were unable to penetrate a solid defence.

Then after a break through the middle, Owls reduced the deficit with a shot that gave Sharon Gaffney no chance, but Halaseh had the final say when she made sure of the points with a late strike following a build-up involving Lauren Brady and Weir.

Parkview Ladies: S Gaffney; L Chalmers, L Brady, E Stubbs, C Dundee (C); A Halaseh, S Weir, G Caldwell, C Morrow; N Turkington, L Neish.

The next league fixture will be on January 5, when Enniskillen will be the visitors to Foundry Lane.
