Hamilton inspires Courts

Lincoln Courts.6

Sion Swifts.1

LINCOLN Courts eased to another impressive and high scoring victory this time over Sion Swifts, on Saturday.

The Waterside men started well but Jason Hay’s close range shot, which had Sion keeper beaten, came back off the post, while Kolyn Patterson saw his close range shot saved.

Steven Nicholl’s side did take the lead on ten minutes when Mark Hamilton, who was playing his first game of the season, calmly rounded the keeper and side footed home into the empty net.

To their credit the visitors pushed forward to level things and they were unlucky moments later when Courts keeper Ian Killen did well to push the effort around his post.

A good interception by in-form Scott Thomas led to Courts’ second goal when he latched on to a cross field ball and sent Hamilton of on a run, his pass to Stevie Mooney ended with the skipper, making no mistake firing home.

The third goal was equally as good on 20 minutes, this time down the left, duo Billy Hutchman and Dean Cooke linked up with the full-back’s floating cross found midfielder Patterson who finished the move with a great header past the stranded keeper.

Jason Dougherty and Patterson were well in control in the middle of the park by this stage and Patterson was again involved for the fourth goal, his through ball found Hamilton who finished well.

Sion pulled one back on 35 minutes after a free kick 25 yards out was struck superbly into the top corner, but the home side restored their four goal lead just before half-time, this time Mooney setting up Hamilton for a much deserved hat-trick.

The second half for Sion was just a matter of keeping the score down with men behind the ball and trying to break, but some good saves by the Sion keeper and the woodwork saved them again and again.

Courts eventually got past the keeper through Hutchman with the net gaping, the left wingers goalbound header was saved by a Sion defender who’s two handed save would have made any keeper proud, Hutchman’s penalty rattled the woodwork to deny him for the second time.

The sixth and final goal was made by Man of the match Hamilton with a lob over the defence to the waiting Patterson he also rounded the keeper to slot the ball home for his second of the game.
