He gained valuable racing experience in August last year when he competed for Ireland in the IPC World Swimming Championships.

In April James he finished in sixth place in his strongest event, the 100m breaststroke, at the British Open Long Course Championships in Sheffield and achieved a qualifying time for the Paralympic in London 2012.

He also repeated this personal best time in the Irish Long Course Championships in May.

If James can keep up this form over the next season it could stand him in good stead for consideration for the 2012 Irish Paralympics team.
