Slane had the visitors on the back foot from the first whistle and were two up within the first 10 minutes with two great goals from Gareth Hamilton.

Neil Gamble threw the ball into the box and Ally English flicked it onto David Boyd who had his effort well saved.

Gary Hanna had a couple of half chances well saved by the keeper and English hit over.

Slane were solid at the back with Richard Hanna and Gareth McDowell missing nothing in centre back and Gamble and David Cromie were working well up the flanks, supporting the midfield.

Gary Megaw was handling well in the Slane nets to keep the visitors out. Matthew McKnight was working hard in midfield for Slane.

The visitors came out a much changed team at the start of the second half and pushed Slane deep into their own half. Megaw pulled off two good saves and two shots whizzed the wrong side of the Slane woodwork. Dean Smyth hit over and Johnny Adair hit wide.

Adair played in Gary Hanna who lobbed the keeper from outside the box and it bounced into the net for Slane’s third.

From the kick off Tullygally went up field and found the back of the Slane net with fortuitous goal.

On the hour the visitors pulled back another goal to put the pressure on Slane.

Michael Corbet hit over and Matthew Kernaghan hit wide. With 10 minute to go the visitors rattled a shot of the bar.

Slane fought hard throughout the remainder of the game and held on for a great victory over the league leaders.

Best on the day for Slane was young Richard Hanna who worked his socks off at the defence.
