Harriers host Stunnerz ‘N’ Runnerz

Well over 250 ladies from far and wide met at Meadowbank Sports Arena last Saturday for the third annual ladies only Stunnerz ‘N’ Runnerz 5 mile.

In warm, sunny conditions the ladies enjoyed a pre-race dance warm up and then headed out along the country roads around Magherafelt.

Suzanne Higgins of Lagan Valley led from the off, closely pursued by Cathy McCourt (North Belfast Harriers), Pauline McGurren (Sperrin Harriers), Anne Paul (City of Derry) and Helena Quinn (Termoneny).

At the half way stage Suzanne Higgins remained in front followed by Cathy McCourt while Anne Paul had edged ahead of Pauline McGurren.

As the ladies ran onto the track at Meadowbank Sports Arena Anne Paul had gained another place overtaking Cathy McCourt.

However, leader from the start Suzanne Higgins held on to break the ribbon on 30.44, followed by Anne Paul on 31.05. Cathy McCourt was next in on 31.31 with Pauline McGurren finishing fourth on 31.40. Well done to the ladies from Sperrin Harriers who were victorious in the team competition.

After the race all enjoyed the now renowned after race buffet and activities including gait analysis, massages and beauty demonstrations. A great day was had by all and congratulations goes to Joanne Bell and her team for such a well organised event.

Last Wednesday the country lanes of Annaghmore played host to its annual 5K and 10K event.

In warm conditions Sperrin Harrier Pauline McGurren was the winner in a time of 41.09. Barry O’Neill was the next Harrier home on 45.54, closely followed by Patsy Hughes on 46.40. Toirleach Gourley (47.39) and David Moan also represented Sperrin Harriers.

Lifford 5K- Greencastle man Paul McLaughlin represented Sperrin Harriers at the Donegal race last Friday evening, finishing third in the M45 category in a time of 18.59.

Active Antrim 5M- Over 100 runners met at Antrim Stadium last Friday evening to tackle this relatively flat five miler. Sperrin Harriers was represented by Stephen McWilliams who finished on 56.18.

Park Run MUSA 5K- Colm McGuckian 19.43, Fergal McElroy 20:23, Hannah Su 24.37, Martin Quinn 27.41.

Week ahead: Lisnaskea 10K on Saturday 21st June at 12 Noon; Kenny McGirr Memorial 10K, Omagh on Sunday 22nd June at 12 Noon;

Between the Bridges 5K, Belfast on Sunday 22nd June at 9am.
