Haughey could be back by New Year

The 20 year-old fractured his tibia and fibula in a goalmouth scramble just before half-time in the 1-0 win over Coleraine and, although things looked bad as he was stretchered off, his operation went well and Quinn is being optimistic about the length of time that Haughey will be sidelined.

“Let’s look at it positively. Maybe he could be back again in two and a half or three months,” Quinn told the ‘MAIL.’

“Mark had his operation on Sunday morning and everything went well. He won’t be in plaster or anything. He had a pin inserted and he’ll be on crutches. The surgeon was very pleased with the way things went together and it’s a clean break. That’s something to be thankful for.

“Mark will be on crutches for a couple of weeks now and then he’ll be able to start putting a bit of weight on his leg.”

Meanwhile, injured midfielder Peter McCann, who suffered ankle ligament damage in the 10-0 Irn-Bru League Cup win over Coagh United, should be back a month earlier than Haughey:

“Peter will likely be out for about two months. I would hope it would be no more than that but let’s wait and see on that one,” said Quinn.
