Run off on the Dungannon road, John was timed at 20 minutes 47 seconds. Second place went to Island Wheeler Richard Davison.

Other Clanns riders in the top ten were Conor Grimes, fourth, and Martin McConville tenth.

Next Tuesday, the time trial series moves to the Lurgan-Dromore road for a 7.30pm start.

Newry is the venue on Sunday next for a Youth Series to be run by the Newry Wheelers club.

As well as the Clanns under 16 star, Declan Mulhoulland, several of the under 14 and under 12 squads are gaining experience and will be getting into the thick of the Newry action.

Further away, Conor Grimes will be the only Clann Eireann rider in the Donegal Three Day, a real tough event, where the club has scored stage wins in the past.

Conor faces stern opposition in the race which draws cyclists from all over Ireland.
