High energy Seconds get the better of Holywood with attacking display

After their first win of the New Year, Bann Seconds travelled to Lisburn for their second match against Holywood Seconds.

The match started strongly with some great attacking moves from Kerri Patterson (back In her favoured position) and Helen Monaghan with some fantastic goals scored in the shooting circle.

Along with a fantastic defensive effort from Rachel Ryan and the newly returned Claire Lilley, Bann created a wonderful early lead.

At the end of the first quarter, Elaine Connery moved into GK and during the second quarter, Bann’s defence excelled, taking some really good interceptions and steals which pushed the lead even further in front.

At half time, Kerri Patterson changed into WA and Cherie Hamilton into WD.

Both these players gave the game new energy with Cherie creating some great defensive pressure around the circle.

Some more excellent play from both attacking and defending teams ended the match with the score of Bann 57 – 31 Holywood.

Fine win for Bann Thirds

Bann Thirds played an away game against Gilford Gaels on Tuesday January 20.

Bann started strongly with good passing and strong defence, taking the lead 13-6 Gilford.

In the second quarter Bann kept the pressure on forcing errors on Gilford which Bann converted to goals.

Great interceptions from Bann’s centre Orla Murphy led to the Thirds working the ball up to their shooters GA Mona Lewis and GS Lisa Smith, who effortlessly turned into goals.

In the last quarter Gilford fought hard and managed to pull back a few goals, however it was not enough. Bann won the game 55-19 Gilford. Player of the match Orla Murphy.
