High School claim SELB netball title

Congratulations go to Cookstown High School Junior Netball Squad who have won the SELB League Trophy on Wednesday December 19.

The Junior league comprised of four teams this year namely Cookstown, St Paul’s Bessbrook, Banbridge Academy and Lismore. The results from the League matches were as follows: Cookstown 17 St Pauls 5, Cookstown 17 Banbridge 9, and Cookstown 20 Lismore 7.

Cookstown Juniors finished first in their section and went on to face St. Paul’s Bessbrook in the Final on Wednesday.

Cookstown struggled with their nerves during the first half of the game but they eventually got into their usual confident stride and defeated St Paul’s 16 goals to 9 to bring home the Junior Trophy and the Gold Medals.

Cookstown Juniors will now face the winners of the Western Area League in the Quarterfinals on the NI League.
