High School march on

BELFAST High’s first fifteen are gearing up for another challenge in the Northern Bank Schools’ Cup as they take on Sullivan Upper in the fourth round.

The Jordanstown-based side stormed past Larne Grammar on Saturday, recording a 19-7 win to bank their second east Antrm derby victory of the campaign.

Coach Davy Scott described the triumph as a “real team performance” adding he will be expecting more of the same for Saturday’s home test.

“Sullivan are an unknown quantity to us and we don’t really know much about them. Like us, they are an unseeded team but we have the home draw and it is going to take another consistent performance from the lads for us to progress.

“They will offer a completely different test for us and they may fancy themselves as favourites but it’s going to be a very tough match.”

He added: “The boys played very well against Larne.

“It was a steady perfomance and it was clear they were up for it from the off. Our forwards played very well and scrummed Larne off the park but I have to add that the backs also stepped up to the plate. I feel we deserved it and both sets of coaches were agreed on that after the game.”
