High scoring in Manormatics competition

THE weekend competition at the Brown Trout played in stableford format was for the Manormatics Trophy.

In a high scoring event with two players returning 42 points each: David Milliken (18) and Tommy McCloskey (26) finished equal.

David was declared the winner after the tiebreak with 21 points each nine despite failing to score at the 14th hole.

Tommy opened with 22 before adding 20 to claim runner-up place with a blank at the 15th proving costly.

Two other players finished a further point back with 41s.

After another tiebreak Seamus Doherty (14) edged Alan Smyton (24) out of the prizes with Seamus scoring 20 over the second nine with the help of a birdie three at the 15th against Alan’s back nine 17.

The twos were shared by Ronnie Milliken Maurice Torrington and Paddy Kelly (two).

An open Charity event has been arranged for Friday 3 September at the Brown Trout Golf Club organised and in support of Cancer Choices Dungannon. Valuable prizes to be won!

As well as individual prizes there will be a fourman team event with all four scores to count.

A ladies nine hole event will be held on the same day.

Entry fee represents good value at 5 per person.

Players unable to enter as a team may play for individual honours.

Visitors are welcome and invited to support this worthwhile charity.
