Hilden hard done-by in nine shot defeat

Hilden picked up two points when they lost by nine shots at home to Falls in Private Greens Division 2, though it was closer than the scoreline suggests.

Ahead 8-5 at the tenth Keith Morrison dropped a six but quickly responded with a six and went on to lead comfortably. He added a three to win by nine shots.

Two threes helped Raymond Gourley to a 13-5 lead at the tenth and 18-6 at 15 ends before winning by nine.

Down 3-13 at the tenth Howard McMullan never recovered and lost by 15 shots.

Level 8-8 at the tenth and 13-13 later on, Jonathan McMullan lost by 12 shots.

Hilden B were minus three regular skips and could only field 13 players for a variety of reasons - holidays, illness and injury - but they produced a great performance to take six points away to Mossley B in Division 5.

There were wins for Robin Campbell, Charlie Morrison and John Jordan with Max McClean finishing ahead but losing when quartered. It was really a great fight against the odds.
