Hockey club needs players

Ballycastle Ladies Hockey Club are on the look-out for new players.

The team lost 11 members last season and needs new faces to play in the next campaign.Ballycastle Ladies also had to step down from their league this season because several players were under the age limit of 15.

Coach David McMullan has launched a recruitment drive to rebuild the club so it can play again in the Ulster Senior 4 League in September.

David said: “We lost 11 players at the end of last season to university and a couple went around the world travelling. Basically the squad we had this year was too young. The league would not let us in because they were under 15 years of age for insurance purposes.Basically with the girls that we have they have been training every week in Ballycastle and hope to build for next season.

“It’s a cross-community club with a wide age range and the main thing about the club is the attitude to have a bit of craic.”

The club trains on Tuesdays from 6.45pm to 8pm at the Quay Road Astroturf facility in Ballycastle. So if you are 15 and over and looking to take up the game call down to the club.
