The young side had another debutant in Brett McConnell and started the game full of attacking intent especially through Timmy Tantrum Sloan and the team’s Player of the Year, Andrew Ferguson. However, it was Kilkeel who took the lead.

The Reds got themselves back into the game through a smashing goal. Andrew Ferguson made a great run down the line before lashing a cross in on the reverse to where the onrushing Callum Anderson met it and turned it home.

McConnell, Scott Nelson, Davy Atkinson and Ryan Johnston were teak-tough in defence and maintained the score until half time despite significant pressure.

The second half saw the Reds craft a number of opportunities, but a Kilkeel breakaway saw the home side take the lead before a cunning short corner saw them extend their lead with ten minutes to play.

With Cookstown pushing forward through Donaldson, Anderson and Watt, the Reds were caught on the break again with a tap in at the back post to make it 4-1.

Cookstown II: Josh Anderson, Brett McConnell, Scott Nelson, David Atkinson, Ryan Johnston, Callum Anderson, Timmy Sloan, Andrew Ferguson, Scott McCabe, Paul Watt, Ryan Donaldson, Conor Crawford.
