HOCKEY: Defeats for Carrick and Greenisland Ladies

Carrick Ladies suffered their second Senior 2 league defeat on the spin as they went down 3-0 away to Derg Valley on Saturday.

It was the Strabane outfit’s first win of the campaign and they closed the gap on their opponents to three points, moving up to eighth spot.

Honour Nethery, Emma Harper, Vicky McCormack were on target during the match leaving Carrick empty-handed.

Carrick, who have won two games from five outings this season, will be hoping to return to winning ways when they welcome basement side Limavady Ladies to the Amphitheatre this weekend (1pm, Saturday).

Meanwhile, Greenisland Ladies are still searching for their first league success of the 2015-16 season after they lost 2-0 at home third-placed Omagh Ladies.

This Saturday Greenisland make the trip to Stormont to take on Northern Ireland Civil Service.

Elsewhere in Senior 2, Mossley Ladies continued their great run of form with a 2-0 victory away to a Priorians side which had comprehensively defeated Carrick seven days earlier.

Northern Ireland Civil Service travelled to the north west where they emerged as 4-1 winners over Limavady.

In schools’ hockey, Belfast High School’s 1st XI eased to a 4-0 win over Carrick Grammar on Saturday morning.
