HOCKEY: Doherty and Charlton on target for Ballyclare High against BRA

Ballyclare High’s 2A XI led the way for the school’s senior teams against Belfast Royal Academy with a good 2-1 win in the East Antrim League on Saturday (October 17).

The goals came courtesy of Kia Doherty and Girl of the Game Sophie Charlton.

The 2B XI recorded a resounding 5-1 win with Megan Tumelty (2), Susan Purdy, Gemma Black and Keeley Hurst on target. Player of the Match was Hannah White.

The 3rd XI won 1-0, with Helen Brown finding the net. Girl of the Game: Hannah Masson. The U15 team were 2-0 victors over BRA thanks to strikes from Chloe Den Haese and Sian Dinnen. Player of the Match was shared between Charlotte McAnee and Sian Dinnen.

It was more of a mixed bag for Ballyclare’s junior teams with the U14 A side losing 1-0 despite some very promising play at the start of the second half which could have seen them go on to dominate the match. Unfortunately, it was not to be and BRA tucked one away with about 10 minutes of play remaining. Rebecca Alcorn was the Player of the Match.

The U14 B team won 1-0, with a BRA own goal providing the only score of the game. Player of the Match: Victoria Jenkins.

The picture was strikingly similar for the U13 teams; there was a 1-0 loss for the U13 A team. Rachel Hill named Player of the Match.

A solitary Molly Scott goal proved decisive as the U13 B team defeated their BRA counterparts. Player of the Match was Emma Montgomery.
