HOCKEY: Parkview Ladies extend lead at top of league

Parkview Ladies enhanced their Senior League Section 4 pole position with a 3-1 win against Ballynahinch Ladies in Ballyclare, with all goals scored in the first half.

Natalie Cahoon opened the scoring in the 6th minute when she collected a pass from Lauren Glass and slotted the ball in at the near post from an acute angle.

The ‘Hinch girls responded to this with a series of attacks on the home goal, forcing Maimie Graham to make a couple of clearances.

The hosts fared better at the opposite end midway through the first half, when team captain Kerry Erskine doubled the lead.

With Nicola Singleton and Erskine prominent in midfield the Doagh girls continued to have the edge, and were rewarded on the half hour when a Jenny Wallace dash down the line resulted in a cross to the back post, where Jenna Oliphant applied the finishing touch.

Just before the break the visitors pulled one back following a free from the twenty-five, but Parkview were well worth their two-goal advantage.

In the second half the County Down girls concentrated on damage limitation by reinforcing their defence, so Parkview rarely got near the home circle,
