Hockey: Priorians kick-start season with win

The first match of the season for the Priorians Firsts was a local derby against Limavady, who secured promotion to senior 2 this season.

Prior dominated from start to finish with some slick passing all over the pitch particularly up the middle to secure an impressive 6-0 win.

Michelle Riddles was the first to get on the score board with a great finish from a good ball in from Jill Kennedy helped on by Emma Allen.

Prior continued to move the ball well and more goals followed, from Emma Allen, Jill Kennedy and Hannah Walker, leaving it 4-0 to Prior at half-time.

Limavady stepped up a gear in the second half, and played some good hockey but not enough to trouble goalkeeper Alice O’Neill who didn’t have to make a save.

Two more goals followed in the second half from Annette Wilson and Jill Kennedy to seal the victory and ensure Priorians got off to a great start to the season.

The well-deserved player of the match was Nicola Lowrey.
