HOCKEY REVIEW: Cathcart, Brown and Boyd help Mossley break league duck

Mossley Men's Hockey Club 1st XI bagged their first league win of the season with a 3-0 success against Newry at The Glade.

The deadlock was broken just 10 minutes in when a Newry turnover in midfield allowed Joel Cathcart to break through into the circle and fire high past the advancing keeper.

Mossley doubled their advantage through debutant Rory Brown following good work by Adam Monahan on the left flank.

Brown then turned provider for Aaron Boyd to finish from close range with 20 minutes left on the clock.

Elsewhere, Mossley II hosted Bangor II on Friday evening and came away 5-3 winners with goals by Jordan McCrea, Ross McIvor, Mark Moreland, Mark Lee and captain Mark Watson. The 3rds secured an 8-1 win over Instonians.
