HOCKEY: Thirds rocked by late PSNI winner

THERE was heartbreak for the young Coleraine Thirds team who went down by a late goal at PSNI last Saturday.

Recent weather conditions ensured that the gravel pitch was heavy and slow, a pace which suited the more experienced home side.

Coleraine tried hard to compete with the physical challenge presented by both the conditions and opponents.

Despite creating a number of opportunities Coleraine were dominated by their hosts.

Indeed the Bannsiders were thankful to goalkeeper Sam Tayler who continued her recent excellent form with a number of good saves.

Unfortunately Coleraine could not hold out for a hard earned draw as with ten 10 minutes to go they conceded a goal following a scramble in their circle.

This was another encouraging performance by Coleraine which might have produced a different result on a different surface.

The team is again grateful to John Rowan for umpiring their game.
